Order Convent in Prague 2022

Almost like the good old days…

…the Great Order Convent of the Order of St. George was able to take place in Prague from April 22 to 24, 2022. For the first time in two years, there were neither restrictions on the number of people nor other Corona-related requirements for events. In addition, the “Golden City” showed itself from its best side with imperial weather and so almost 300 Dames and Knights of the Order as well as guests were able to enjoy the programme to the full.

The Convent weekend began on Friday evening with a cosy get-together in the dignified setting of Martinic Palace, one of the most beautiful Renaissance buildings in Prague.

The next day, all participants gathered at Wenceslas Square, which dates back to 1348. After the report to Grand Master Archduke Karl and the playing of the hymns by the “Prague Castle Guard & Czech Police Symphonic Band”, the impressive procession marched to the Church of Our Lady before Týn. There they awaited the arrival of the Archbishop of Prague and Primate of the Czech Republic, H. Em. Cardinal Duka OP, who presided over the atmospheric, uplifting festive mass as the main celebrant. Afterwards, Graf Hugo von Mensdorff-Pouilly was admitted into the Order as an Honorary Knight by our Grand Master, as well as one Dame and 17 new Knights were invested.
