Dr. Horst Pirker is CEO and majority owner of VGN Medienholding, Austria’s largest magazine group. Anyone who knows him knows that you can prepare yourself for plain text in this keynote. He only recently caused a sensation with an open letter to Federal Chancellor Sebastian Kurz in which he criticized the practice of press funding, in particular denouncing a preference for “quantity media” over “quality media”.
