Why cash is so important

It has been used for thousands of years – cash. It is an indispensable part of everyday life and also fulfils an important educational function, as Dr. Gerhard Starsich, General Director of the Austrian Mint, emphasised in a lecture on 2 October: “Cash is a means of financial self-control and expenditure control. At some point the wallet is empty, and that has an important learning effect.”
